short press rewind/forward not track nav

(1/1)

Bort:
I listen to music but also a lot of technical podcast where I need to easily rewind/forward 5 to 10 seconds. I need to do this with a single press of a button. I don't like how for all the MP3 players these days you have to hold the button down to rewind/forward. If you hold it for to short a time, pop you are back to the beginning of a 2 hour podcast with no clue where you were. So I need short press to be 5 seconds rewind/forward and long press fast rewind/forward with acceleration. I don't care about track forward or back. Also need bookmarking in case I want to switch to a different mp3 and then back.

What MP3 player can anyone recommend that can do this and does Rockbox add this feature to any ones that don't? If so to which ones? Also I like hard buttons that I can control without looking (hand in my pocket). I hope this forum has some experience with the offerings out there and guide me to a good player.

If you need something like this I guess you need to modify the source (it is open source after all). When you implement such behaviour any supported player will do.

Rockbox already has a feature which (I think) does what you want it to do. The feature/setting is called "Skip Length" and any player that runs Rockbox should have it. Read the description of "Skip Length" in one of our manuals - I just took the Ipod one as an example, as I said, it should work with every Rockbox capable device.
