Installation / Removal > Rockbox Utility
Autodetect & firmware copying failed (iRiver H10 5gb)
(1/1)
windycity:
I've just tried installing Rockbox on my 5GB iRiver H10, which had totally stopped working & needed formatting. I followed the instructions on the Graphical Installation walkthrough, but I'm having some trouble:
- when I hit the big "Autodetect" button, Windows 7 came up with a "Rockbox has stopped working" error message and shut the program down. This happened three times in a row, until I gave up and manually selected my device from the list.
- when I selected the components to install (Bootloader, Rockbox, Themes, Font, Games), it ran the installation process and then gave me this error message:
"Downloading bootloader
Download finished.
Installing Rockbox bootloader
Copying modified firmware file failed" (I've attached the log)
Can anyone help me out, please? I selected the UMS version, because - as I understand it - MTP means you could use WMP to transfer files and I only ever used mine with iRiver Plus (I bought my player in the UK and it came with an FM radio, if that helps identify it further). So I'm pretty sure it should be the right firmware?

Hello everyone,
Rockbox is what I was looking for, since I have always hated my player's firmware.
I'm trying to install the firmware from RockBoxUtility 1.3.1.
I don't use autodetect but I am getting the above mentioned error on a Philips GoGear HDD 1620 player
when trying to install the bootloader from RockBoxUtility 1.3.1
"Downloading bootloader
Download finished
Installing Rockbox bootloader
Copying modified firmware file failed"
This happens with both the Windows and the 64-bit Linux versions.
The only available "RockBox version to install" is Revision d0918b9 updated on 2013 12 15.
If I uncheck the Bootloader install option, everything else is downloaded and installed, firmware included.
(Of course I uninstalled everything before unplugging or quitting the utility)
This is my first attempt at installing RockBox, so I need the Bootloader as well.
Perhaps I am doing something wrong? Any hint would be appreciated.
