bootloader.bin
« on: May 23, 2006, 07:08:05 AM »
Hi,
I am currently trying to uninstall rocbox from my bro's 5g ipod. and I read in the ipod installation instructions that I would need the original bootloader.bin that it instructs you to save, to remove rocbox. I recenly did a reinstallation on my PC and I know I had saved it on a DVD somewhere but I cant seem to find it...

was wondering if someone could upload the original Bootloader.bin from their Ipod 5g install.
Its like 40 megs so you could use a free file hosting site like, http://www.filefactory.com/ , www.megaupload.com , or www.rapidshare.com. thnx

Or you can backup your files on there, grab apples ipod update utility and restore...

I'm curious, would using someone elses bootloader from their ipod work with someone elses ipod?

I would suggest "update" rather than "restore".  Update will re-format the firmware partition and re-load the apple bootloader/firmware without erasing your files.

Just as a note, the file you should save is "bootpartition.bin" (for future reference)
