Cowon X5 w 240GB SSD - need help/advice with compiling

<< < (2/2)

Hogwash:
It does indeed seem that you are right with your rating of my problem.

It was after all my hope that somebody had that problem too and solved it.
From what I read it might only be (or: I hope that it is only) a line added in rockbox and/or the bootloader to remove the problem. The SSD itself is performing fine, perfectly aligned and everything.
Unfortunately I have NO experience with debugging and coding.

I still have my X7, so I'll just wait patiently and see if something turns up here.

Hogwash:
Ok, so to not leave this thread open and unfinished I will post my part of the story here:

This thread:
http://forums.rockbox.org/index.php?topic=23436.0
lead me to the solution.
It was a little weird since things that were commented out in the config in my understanding seemed not to be in the end, but I just deleted the lines concerning:
#define HAVE_ATA_POWER_OFF
and that did it. "HAVE_LBA48" for big disks is compiled into the up to date rockbox by default, so just deleting that one line did the trick.

Now the next thing is to install that 1300mAh battery and I am a more than happy camper !

wodz:
Not that much happy probably as not cutting power to the drive (removed HAVE_ATA_POWER_OFF) will decrease battery runtime considerably.

Hogwash:
Well - I'll keep you all informed as soon as I have some long time experience with the new drive.

But since there are no more movable parts now AND the guy that I got the advice to remove "HAVE ATA POWER OFF" from has left his thread without furthur comment a long time ago - I have hopes that all should be fine.

@ wodz: In case there are things left to improve - what would you recommend instead of removing "HAVE ATA POWER OFF" ?
I am a newbie, so I am willing to learn...

Hogwash:
Here are my battery benchmark results:

16h56m18s with my original (still the first) battery !
I played some 29 FLAC files in shuffle repeat mode, volume ca. 60%, screen only activated a couple of times to check status.

Well, I am definetlly not worried any more about removing the "HAVE ATA POWER OFF".  :)
I am quite impessed to say the least.
And: I have got my X5 back in even more glory then ever.

I attached my stats for the curious (I don't know LibreOfficeCalc well enough to provide nice looking graphs - sorry).
