Rockbox configs eq or itself from id3 tags - per second or per song
« on: November 11, 2013, 08:22:05 PM »
Hi :)
per second is not that important although it would be amazing for audiophiles

i think this would be an amazing upgrade to rb if this powerful feature was added.
rb could read the mp3 tag "comment" section and adjust itself on the fly
each song can have its own eq setting or its own wps setting or cfg that it loads
i got this idea while listening to an old and poorly recorded channeling session of Bashar and wound up having to adjust the eq in such a funky way that it made me think that it would be great to save this setting into the mp3 itself, since this setting is unique to this file only and i have hundreds of these files each being several hours long and requiring their own eq settings.

in settings under eq
"on"
"off"
"id3 preset"

inside of each mp3 id3 tag in the comment field it can say...

exapmle 1:
## %01 leave old eq settings and only change the following sound settings:

eq precut: 0
eq low shelf filter: 32, 7, 0
eq peak filter 1: 64, 10, 0
eq peak filter 2: 125, 10, 0
eq peak filter 3: 250, 10, 0
eq peak filter 4: 500, 10, 0
eq peak filter 5: 1000, 10, 0
eq peak filter 6: 2000, 10, 0
eq peak filter 7: 4000, 10, 0
eq peak filter 8: 8000, 10, 0
eq high shelf filter: 18000, 7, 150
dithering enabled: on

## first number is FREQUENCY so 20-20000, second is Q so 05-64, third is GAIN so -240 to 240 (+24.0 db)

example 2:
## eq settings change in real time per second if possible - i know there may be a few second delay
00:01:26
eq peak filter 2: 125, 10, 10
eq peak filter 3: 250, 10, 10
eq peak filter 4: 1500, 10, 50

00:02:31
eq peak filter 2: 125, 10, 90
eq peak filter 3: 250, 10, 30
eq peak filter 4: 1500, 10, 50

00:04:11
eq peak filter 2: 125, 10, 20
eq peak filter 3: 250, 10, 10
eq peak filter 4: 1500, 10, 150

example 3:
## %02 x.cfg load cfg file and only change the following settings:

eq peak filter 2: 125, 10, 90
eq peak filter 3: 250, 10, 10
eq peak filter 4: 1500, 10, 50

example 4:
## %00 flat (zero out) all eq settings and only change the following sound settings:

eq high shelf filter: 18000, 7, 150

example 5:
## %05 just load a premade default cfg file

/EQ clean highs.cfg

example 6:
##with different songs you can have entirly different wps screens
wps: /.rockbox/wps/WPSscreen.wps

im sure this can be expanded on
what do you think? any developers interested in trying to code this for the world to appreciate. as gratitude i will be happy to send you full bashar channeled audios !
