Remapping the function keys
CT71:
I've only been able to find two articles about this, and it seems the only way to do it is to write your own theme. Is this true? I have an iPod 5th generation I believe, and have loved playing with Rockbox over the last few months since installing, but the way the function keys work is killing me. Not to be taken as criticism at all, maybe I'm the backwards one, but it just seems there are far too many clicks involved when just doing simple navigation of playing tracks and looking through your library for a new track to play. I have Rockbox because I believe in it over iPod, but the iPod way seems so much more streamlined, straight forward, and simple. I cannot write my own theme, so is there something I'm missing......maybe in the shorcuts section, or another section? Thanks!

Its not, themes don't change the buttons. You have to edit the source code to do that.

Thanks for responding. Sorry, I may not have used the correct terminology (and will probably screw up somewhere in this post again, so hopefully you can sort through what I'm trying to say).....is editing the source code something that can be done by myself, or is this something that is already writtin into the original system and cannot be changed by me? And is this the only possible way of any sort of workaround?
saratoga:
What the buttons do is determined by computer code. You can change that computer code, and then compile a new build and install it on your device, but this requires you to have some knowledge of programming.

Ahhhhh, shit! Was afraid that was the answer. Back to the drawing board, lol. Thanks.
