Power problems on a red iRiver H10 5gb

I have owned an H10 since febuary of this year, in great condition, and a few months ago, it started having power problems. First of all, it's battery only lasted about 3 to 4 hours at the most. Then, I started having problems with the power cord, to where you had to bend it to where you were afraid the plug was going to break. Yesterday, I managed to charge a few minutes onto it, but the battery started depleting rapidly (about 3% a second) and while it was running out of power, the screen began to get darker and brighter every second. Can anyone help me fix this please?

The H10 isn't exactly a new player, so probably this is just the battery going bad and the cable not being in a very good shape.
