Play folders and subfolders in 1 playlist without manually creating playlist

Is there a way to create a random dynamic playlist using a folder and subfolders?

For example, I have a folder structure of:
Christmas
     Album 1
     Album 2
     Album3
Music
     Album 1
     Album 2
     Album 3

I know I can create playlists based on each folder manually and play the playlist but what I'd really like to do is choose the Christmas (or music) parent folder and have a dynamic playlist generated that includes only the information in the child folders.  I've found insert and insert shuffled, and they work - but I need an blank playlist opened first. 

I would welcome any suggestions.  Thanks.

Why is it that you need to "start with a blank playlist"?

if you were to bring up the context menu on the top level item whilst playback is stopped (in this case "/Music" or "/Christmas") and select "Current Playlist"; "Insert", then Album 1, Album 2, and Album 3 will be added to the dynamic playlist in in the order displayed in the file browser. This can be saved and edited at any point, or discarded as a dynamic playlist.

Perhaps I'm not understanding your needs correctly.

If I insert and then shuffle, the songs that are already on the playlist are either duplicated or shuffled into the ones that were just added as far as I can tell.
