IPod Classic 7th gen

user88:
After My thread here and two nights without sleep I finally RBoxed my new IPOD
It happened after trying all the computers at home and finally on the oldest pc it finally opened me the dfu partition.
I suspect that maybe if u leave the reseted and connected IPOD it will finally enter DFU (cause it had some delay after connecting it to MY laptop).
waiting to try it after all my music transfers.
I post this topic to maybe to help some people in my past situation - statistically from all the research i had done there are lot difficulties with this issue...
I still realize there is work to be done - at first look there is a lot potential to this piece of hardware:)
I will only conclude that i almost bought a cowon d20 instead of another sansa (in addition to the iPOD) but worried the interface won't be friendly enough without RB. (besides I have pretty big library of songs and preferred the extra disk space).
Hope others will easier time rBoxing their POds

I want to add to more points to this thread
1- the transfer rate of songs 10 MB/s is pretty tripple than i had in sansa
2- can anyone cue me how to add themes or if its possible in the player mentioned above

(3)

I have another question regarding the thread maybe not the right forum- Can I Increase Text size in the player mentioned above.
I messed a bit with themes and they don't seem to work well.
In general the player produces pretty good sound,
it's a bit big but i think ill start using it, and maybe buy another one sometime
tried charging it- there is some issue  - the time remaining isn't calibrated and I couldn't see if it's still charging...

think I summarized my adventure
hope to see the work done on this IPOD (after all it's on your to do list) unfortunately i have not enough knowledge ect' to contribute to the software or whatever

What should I select in the Battery capacity option- its selected 400 mAh and in dunno if its the capacity...

[Saint]:
Set it to anything you like, really. It governs no useful information whatsoever on this device presently.
(It only effects the estimated runtime, not the displayed capacity of the battery, and even if the battery capacity were set correctly (550mAh is the default value) it would still be wrong)

So, yeah - just forget about it.

I have some weird option its 500 mAh max- is my rockbox out of date?

Started another sleepless adventure - tried to put .rockbox of the 6gen from your site and not emcore
seemed all was doomed but on the other hand i managed to enter dfu mode from my laptop and seemed to be fixed

I have another thing maybe to put in to do list
after i copied my songs to the pod i rearranged them within it, and it shows me I use only 4 GB what is way not.
thinking of recopying them later

[Saint]:
We don't actually have a To-Do list, at least not one that any users have a say in.

I'm not sure what you're asking with your latest "request". We cannot prevent against file corruption from incorrect unmounting or user error.

Got it, I didn't know about the edit function
In conclusion My only advice to Ipod Install, if it interests some one, is to stay on one machine and one OS and to mess with the IPOD including restoring it with the ITUNES and then uninstalling it.
My impression it enters DFU mode quite when it wants.
the latter thing about the FS is i think the usb hub should be turned off power management option, but in any case your files aren't lost just copy the rest of them and say to avoid replacing or keeping both.

edit: last issue(hope) had to compare the num of dirs matched (and copy the missing)
edit2: if u press the select button (in info) it recalculates the space to the correct one
(all these probably are documented somewhere but I still wanted to share it )

And another edit (never ends) - not to mislead anyone who intends to purchase the mentioned above POD it doesn't have radio
(not very crucial if u use it only to browse/play songs) so I really don't know if it very outweighs the compact sansas. (I had several of them so I decided to try some kind of change). editing this post without special aim, just thought it helps somehow.

edit (who counts): finally updated to the latest release from your page hope it'll improve battery life

I decided to play with it a little more and the conclusions are that u need itunes with a file bootstrap_ipodclassic_itunes.exe and not bootstrap_ipodclassic.exe
and in addition u need to disconnect the device after u copied the .ubi from the my computer and not the bottom ruller where was the start button.
in whole I am satisfied already above a month with my ipod except I wanted to be more sure that I could reinstall It

and another question if someone follows - what can I do if a pixel is stuck (always blue) on my pod, i read that applying a bit pressure solves the problem, and it is, but i think its a bit risky?
