iRiver H10 with 80 GB Samsung Hard Disk is not recognized by Windows PC
(1/1)
Anton:
Hello Everybody,
I have an iRiver h10 / 20 GB. I replaced the 20 GB hard disk with a 80 GB hard disk about 2 years ago. This worked well a long time.
Some time ago - I can't remember exactly, it may be half a year or so - it started to become a problem to get the iRiver connected to my PC. Either the iRiver was freezing immediately when I connected the USB cable to it. In this case only a reset was possible. Or it showed the USB symbol on the screen when I plugged the USB cable in but did not connect to the PC. In this case it usually came back to normal working condition when I unplugged the USB cable.
After a few resets and restarts it finally worked when this problem started. But over the month it got more and more difficult to get the iRiver connected to my PC. Today I could not connect it at all. I also have a Notebook and it made no difference. Therefore I think that the problem is related to the iRiver.
The iRiver plays all the files already on its hard disk. I can browse the hard disk without any problem.
I have Rockbox 3.13 installed on the h10.
Did anybody have a similar problem yet?
Any idea how to solve the problem is highly appreciated.
Regards,
Anton

Hello Everybody,
just in case somebody has a similar problem:
When I start this iRiver H10 in UMS (Emergency Connect) mode:
* shut down the H10
* press the reset button
* connect the H10 to the computer
* press and hold the O button and turn on the H10
* you should see a message "Emergency Connect"the connection to the PC works well.
Conclusion: the problem is somehow related to Rockbox because the Emergency Connect mode is controlled by the iRiver Firmware.
Does anybody have an idea, what it could be an how to fix it?
Regards,
Anton
