Incomplete database
« on: October 22, 2013, 05:05:27 PM »
Hi all,
I noticed something strange about my data base with rockbox. It builds up only until 85% and then stops

System->Debug->View database info shows this:
Initialized: Yes
DB Ready: Yes
RAM Cache: Yes
RAM: 1087696/1220828 B
Progress: 85% (8622 entries)
Curfile: ---
Commit step: 0
Commit delayed: No
Queue length: 0

My DB settings are:
Load to RSM: yes
Auto Update: yes
Gather Runtime Data: No
Select directories to scan: /

I'm using a sansa clip+ with rockbox 3.13 official release
All my music is on a 64GB micro SD card, an is about 45GB worth of mostly mp3 files
I also have in there some m4a and wma music files and none music files such as m3u, jpeg, txt, ini (windows legacy) and Thumbs.db

The problem remains even if I turn off the RAM cache

Is this behavior normal because of my non-music files, or there is something I can do about it?

Because of the size of my collection I have no way of verifying what, if any songs are missing from the data base

Thanks for your help

Its "normal" insofar as the percentile displayed there is quite, quite broken and it has been for as long as I have been interested in this project (about 5 years now).

I understand that putting "Keep Out!" on something is basically the equivalent of painting a big sign with a bullseye and flashing arrows pointing to it for most users, but there's pretty much no useful information presented to the user there.

The percentile displayed there can vary anywhere between -1% and 200%+, don't pay any attention to it.

PS: There's a very trivial way to verify if any tracks are missing from the Database, compare the number of tracks in the dynamic playlist when all tracks are added via the File Browser with the number of tracks when doing the same with the Database.

Using PMs to annoy devs about bugs/patches is not a good way to have the issue looked at.
