What is "No disk processing exception Message C 0000013 Parameters 75B6B of 7C?"
« on: October 21, 2013, 02:19:32 PM »
Hello.  I hope my messages are making it to the forum, because I have yet to receive a reply from any of the ones I sent so far.  Anyway, it's going on either Week 3 or 4, and I'm still having trouble installing Rockbox on mhy husband's Sansa Clip +, or at least now I think I have it installed, but a window opens on my laptop that contains the messages No disk processing exception Message C 0000013 Parameters 75B6B of 7C."  Also, there are three buttons.  There's one that says "Try Again," one that says "Cancel," and one that says "Continue."  If it's a matter of not knowing the mountpoint, It gives it E:\ when I plug it in.  Also, as I stated before, my husband, his twin sister (the one who sent him the MP3 player,) and myself are all totally blind, and there doesn't seem to be anything in the Blind FAQ about installing Rockbox.  I believe I also mentioned that because I'm blind and the one most capable out of the three of us of attempting to manually install Rockbox on to the MP3 player.  Is there something else I'm missing?  Also when I tried to install the OF and the bootloader, I wasn't aware of any messages that might have flashed across the screen except I thought I heard it say at one point the word (terminal.) I really look forward to hearing from someone about this problem.  Again, I really do hope the forum is receiving my messages.  Thank you in advance.

Yes, we are indeed getting your messages, I am unsure how you are coming to the conclusion that no one has replied to your prior posts, every post of yours has been replied to except one that was posted in an inappropriate thread.

However...lets move on.

I'm still having trouble installing Rockbox on mhy husband's Sansa Clip +, or at least now I think I have it installed, but a window opens on my laptop that contains the messages No disk processing exception Message C 0000013 Parameters 75B6B of 7C."

This error message has nothing to do with Rockbox or the installation thereof directly. It is a (rather cryptic, I admit) message from your operating system telling you that it can no longer find a storage volume that it expects to be able to access. Most likely as a result of the storage volume being incorrectly ejected (ie. failure to "Safely Remove Hardware").

Regarding the installation:

The main issue is that you are trying to use a firmware for another device entirely, this was covered by saratoga, one of our developers, in a reply to your very first post on this forum:

I'm having a similar problem with my husband's Sansa Clip+.  The version I have is 01.02.17A, and I downloaded OF Version 01.01.35, but it's not installing. Do I need to format the player?  Thanks you in advance.

01.01.35 is not a clip+ firmware file. You probably clicked the wrong link. You need to use a clip plus firmware file.

This would not have happened if you were using Rockbox Utility as it presents to the user a link to an area of the SanDisk support forums where the correct firmware file for the device can be acquired. I strongly advise using Rockbox Utility, I would advise this for any user be they sighted or otherwise. There is no benefit to be had by installing Rockbox manually, and doing so offers the user (especially an inexperienced user) many potential points of failure. Rockbox Utility also offers the user a very easy way to add voice and talk files to the device (the files required to voice the user interface are not included in a default installation, and talk files for voicing the user's media needs to be generated on a per-file basis), which you will obviously be in need of as a solely graphical interface is of absolutely no use to you or your partner.

If you still have issues while using Rockbox Utility to perform an automated installation I would advise you to contact us at our IRC channel #rockbox on Freenode and either myself (I am known as [Saint] there also) or someone else will be able to walk you through the process step-by-step.

Hi there. My bad. I just thought since my greeting message said I had 0 messages that my messages might have gotten lost as they were winging their way to the forum. So tomorrow I'll go on the IRC. Thanks. Oh, and by the way, what's a PMS? The only thing I used was my laptop, which uses Windows XP, and I think there might be an MS DOS prompt, but I think the last time I saw one of those was when I had a desktop running Windows 98, but that's been awhile. Right now I'm sending this one via an LG Motion from a cellphone company called Metro PCS, and they can be pretty annoying, but how could you have known? As far as annoying gadgets go, if you think I have one in my part of the world and it's annoying you in your part of the world, that's pretty serious. Maybe there needs to be a recall on it. See you or someone else like you tomorrow!

The " Hey, user name, you have X messages, Y are new. " text refers to personal messages, as opposed to message board messages such as this thread.
With the default forum profile settings you should be getting notified by email when someone responds to a thread that you have created or commented on.

Oh, and by the way, what's a PMS?

I must admit, this made me spurt my coffee in a fine mist across my monitor. I think your screen reader software is reading from my (rather generic) forum signature, Its not addressed to you, or indeed anyone in particular for that matter, the "PMs" part refers to "personal messages". Some users seem to like to send all developers or anyone associated with the project a bunch of personal messages if they happen to feel that their issue(s) aren't being resolved quickly enough.

Its nothing you've done, its there as a reminder to those that might do that, to not do that. That's all. :)
