Sansa Fuze with an SD to MicroSD Converter Module and 128gb SD card?
« on: October 16, 2013, 01:10:00 PM »
Would putting this a 128gb card like http://www.amazon.com/Komputerbay-Secure-Digital-Extended-Capacity/dp/B008AN1C1A/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1381943484&sr=8-1&keywords=128gb+sd+card this into http://dx.com/p/sd-to-microsd-transflash-card-converter-module-27001 work with a Sansa Fuze?

I have the original 4gb one and would like to rockbox it and have 120 or so gb's, I heard Rockbox doesn't have a memory limit but is there any worries before I go and drop 80 dollars on this, I was going to buy a bigger player but can't find one with a large enough HDD and the sound quality I prefer.

My idea would be to velcro it to the back and stick it into a normal silicone case.

It should.  Thats just a passive adapter.  As far as rockbox is concerned you'd just be inputting a 128GB microsd card.

I see, thats good to hear, has anyone tried this before? It seems like a great solution since not many players have high capacity memory anymore besides the ipod classic which is sub par sound wise.

I am guessing this would work with most players that have Rockbox and MicroSD support., correct?

The iPod classic is probably the best Rockbox capable player you can get in terms of analog output. The clip series is very close though.

At the risk of deviating from the subject; could you point us to your sources regarding the comparative quality of the analog output from various media players?

I don't mind a little diversion, honestly I have tried most of the ipods and while the older ones sounded OK from what I recall(5th gen and below), the newer ones sound like pretty bad, very small sounding and not very warm, also kinda fatiguing although I guess pretty accurate but you can have all the accuracy in the world and if it isn't pleasing it wont matter to me... . Maybe its a bit better out of the LOD but I would not know....

I have tried, Sansa's, Creatives, Zunes, and Sony players, most of them sounded leagues better and the Fuze is at the top for me personally.

Google "<device name> RMAA"

Perhaps add the word "loaded" to that query to get tests which actually show the worse numbers one gets when an actual load (headphones) is attached vs just a line-out cable.

Thinking the same thing, I tried a microSD <> SD converter with one of my earlier Fuze V2s and bricked it. That was several years ago, however.

Today I use a Sandisk 64GB microSD card and leave it at that; I'm having enough problems getting my unit to behave itself with a little over half of that exp. card full.
