ipod classic (160GB, G7?) not playing music
(1/1)
mmosherr:
So I ordered an iPod classic from apple a few days ago, received it yesterday (2013.10.11) and decided that rockbox would be way better than the apple firmware.
I followed these instruction to install EmCORE
http://www.freemyipod.org/wiki/EmCORE_Installation/iPodClassic
and then downloaded the 2013.10.12 file from here ( rev f580714 )
http://www.rockbox.org/dl.cgi?bin=ipod6g
Both programs load fine however I can not get it to play mp3s or load any themes, I have spent the last 3 hours looking for a solution and came up with nothing.
Any help would be much appreciated, Thanks!

More information please.
What exact steps do you follow? What exactly do you see on screen? etc. etc.

This is very confusing.
How is it that you applied the updated binary? The only case I can think of involves this failing at least twice. Once for the initial installation (there's a part in the instructions in big red letters that states "Even though Rockbox starts, the installation is not complete yet. Continue reading and following the instructions to the end of the page!" where you should extract the "rockbox-ipodclassic.zip" archive to the root of the device), and once again during the upgrade.
It certainly sounds as though the fallback image (which doesn't include any codecs, a possible reason for not being able to play any audio) is running to me.
What do you see when you boot the device? A bland, lifeless, solid black and grey screen with a tiny font? Or colourful icons, a yellow menu selector, and a grey-to-black gradient background with the Rockbox logo embedded?
