Clipzip Install not sticking

Hi,

Happily been using a Rockboxed Clipzip for months.  Just got a new one and noticed a few slight cosmetic differences (it's not a Micro USB port and the home button, which used to be square and a little above and to the left of select, is now on the opposite side and is round). Nonetheless, I tried with the rockbox utility.

everything seemed fine; install finished and voice file installed (which I use as I'm blind). However, unplugging the player afterward reboots to the OF, complete with demo tracks etc that came with the player out of the box.  I can't read the screen to see if there are any errors popping up before this reversion. Reconnecting the player in MSC mode and loading rbutil afresh already has bootloader selected for install; its as if my installation attempt never happened.

Really missing my rockbox now though as I can't use the OF without any vision, so assistance gratefully received on what I can try next.  I did try the manual instructions with newer firmware, but the Win32 Mkamsboot only supports older firmware.

Suggestions welcome, happy to jump through hoops to get this sorted.

A lot of people asking this question today. Probably you just selected the wrong drive letter in rockbox utility.

Are you sure it's a clip zip and not a clip+ or the original clip? The clip and the clip+ use the mini usb and the clip zip use the micro usb. The micro usb is the flatter of the two.

I've verified the drive in the utility, and .rockbox and the .bin file appear on the device per usual.

It's advertised as a zip, looks almost identical (though it is the flatter USB cable).   I therefore assume it's actually a clip or clip+, as it's a Mini rather than Micro USB.  I shall keep investigating.

There we go, it was actually a clip+. Obviously if I could've seen the retail packaging I'd have known that straight away; but it was advertised as a zip.
