Sansa Clip+ 32GB Card Song Buffering issue
« on: October 06, 2013, 02:23:18 AM »
This really isn't a big deal, but it's still bugging me, and if it's occurring because I did something wrong, I'd like to fix it.

I have a Sansa Clip+ paired with a 32GB card (32KB cluster size) formatted in FAT32. The card is class 10 (I didn't buy it for the Sansa, I know class 10 is fairly useless in it lol). I have songs in various formats, from FLAC to AAC to MP3. The AAC's have a variable bitrate of ~256K, the mp3's have a variable bitrate of ~300K. The FLAC's are all over the place. It's using the latest stable version of Rockbox. I'm using all default settings in terms of sound (so no equalizer, no treble/bass boost, default everything).

My problem is that every once in a while, the song will stop in the middle of playing to buffer from the card. Well, I figure it's buffering, because it shows the disk access symbol while it's stopped. It stops for about 3-5 seconds, then continues on (usually without stopping again in the same song). It doesn't matter what song it is, and it doesn't matter what format it is. While it doesn't happen very often (maybe once every 5 songs), it's still something I'm curious about... if it's because of something I'm doing, I'd like to fix it.

Does anybody have any suggestions as to why this is happening? Do you think it's the songs, the card, or does this just happen sometimes? Thanks.

Edit: Just recently, Rockbox crashed in the middle of a 30 minute file with the following error:

*PANIC*
flush_fat_sector() - Could not write sector 514 (error -26)
pc:3005069C
sp:3000D08...
A: 30051878

I figured you don't need those last 3 numbers, but I thought I'd include them anyway. Have I just formatted it wrong, or do you think I have a faulty player? I've already run a disk check on it, and it didn't return any errors. Should I try formatting it with a different cluster size?
