How to change my Sansa Clip Zip firmware from MTP to MSC ?

(1/2) > >>

tooppy:
It is said in the manual :
"The following steps require you to change the setting in Settings → System Settings → USB Mode to MSC from within the original firmware."
Lovely ! In System Setting (Windows7) there is no USB mode ! I found the Sansa in "portable device", I can update the firmware but it always tell me it is in MTP.

Any idea ?

AlexP:
"from within the original firmware." means on your device, not in Windows.

tooppy:
Thanks Alex, but do not have this option from the Sansa clip zip.
Nonetheless, people having this device manage to use Rockbox, I wondering how.
This stuff isn't simple.

What items are listed in the menu reached by choosing Settings > System Settings on the Zip in the original firmware then?

Maybe choose Info and let us know the version number...

Or do you have the Zip set to a language other then English?

tooppy:
I have no "settings" in the Clip.

Right clic give "defrag","ultradefrag", "import", "backup", "rename" and "properties" where there is just a single window giving just simple info on the clip.
Opening the Clip, I have the files "music", "audiobook","podcast","playlist","record","service" and a file called "DevIcon.fil.
This last file cannot be opened and right clic gives nothing interesting either.

Settings ? None !
How others are doing then ? I am puzzled.
