Problem with my Sansa Clip+.
(1/1)
bloodytroll:
Hi.
Just installed RockBox 1.3.1, unplugged my Clip+, plugged it again, then the screen stucked.
I can only see the USB screen, but it's stuck, i can do nothing. I can't restart it, i can't turn it off, even if i unplug it.
What can i do ? Windows can't recognize my Clip+ on the USB port. Do i have to wait to empy de batteries ?
Sorry for my ugly english, i'm french, hope you understood what i said :D
Thanks.
Regards.

Hi there!
I'm pretty new to Rockbox myself, but I am experiencing similar problems with my Sansa Clip Plus!
Have you tried holding the power-button for 15 seconds? When my Sansa is stuck on the USB screen, that helps everytime!
Regards,

I have seen that barely anyone having a problem with a Sansa Clip Plus has received a reply in this forum, but I'll try again:
The problem that I have (and I guess same goes for bloody troll), is that a rockboxed Sansa Clip Plus (still) is not recognised properly by a Windows 7 PC.
Booting the original Sansa firmware and plugging it into a USB port works perfectly fine...but not using RockBox. I'm using the latest Sansa firmware, and RockBox version 3.13, which SHOULD support USB.
I've tried every USB port on my laptop, and different things happen: sometimes NOTHING happens, sometimes a window pops up telling me that the USB device needs to be formatted first, sometimes my laptop shows a connected USB device, just to let it disappear again within a few seconds.
Sometimes it shows a "Rockbox media player" - but it says it's empty, which it isn't.
Any help would be highly appreciated!

Buggy USB is a known problem: http://www.rockbox.org/wiki/SansaAMS#AMSv2_issues_40Fuzev2_44_Clipv2_44_Clip_43_44_ClipZip_41
As you've found, booting into the original firmware is most reliable way to use USB for the time being.

Hi nick_p,
thanks for the feedback! From what I read on the RB pages, I thought only the Clip ZIP was the problem child in those USB issues.
Actually, I bought a Clip PLUS simply because I thought it would work better than the Zip :-)
But thanks anyway, I will use the original firmware then. The unfortunate thing here is that if you add files using the Sansa firmware, those files are not displayed in the Rockbox database as "recently added", which is a function I used to work with a lot.
Best!
