Just wanted to say thanks
« on: September 27, 2013, 10:27:47 PM »
Hi

For a long time I have searched for a music player that meets thees few small requierments:
1. At least 60 GB of music space (my collection is 44 GB and counting)
2. Track selection using playlist, id3tag based DB and folders
3. Hebrew support for file names and id3tags
4. No Apple, no Microsoft

The only ones meeting these requierments were archos 5 series that were HD based, making them battery ineffitient, heavy and very larg.
When my archos died for the 3rd time I started searching for other players and couldn't find anything that can do for me.
Than a freind introduced me to ROCKBOX and that, along with 64GB microSD cards, compleatlly meat all my demends on any player I choose.
My choice was sansa clip+ (mainlly for its size and low price) and today, after a very small problem with the SD card, I got it to work with rockbox very easelly and very good results.

Just for comperisson, my old archos took ~20 miniutes to index my library, the original sansa firmwere got stuck tring to, and rockbox only took ~5 miniutes and no blocking!!! (And the snake game is amaising :))

So, thanks to you all for solving (almost) all my music problems and if there is anything I can do to help let me know
Also, I hope I'm not spamming with this post, if so delete this and let me know

Out of interest, what is it that we haven't helped you solve? Perhaps the solution is there and is as yet undiscovered, though without knowing what the issue(s) is/are, I can only speculate.

Obviously I only speak for myself here (though I hope a similar mentality is shared by other contributors), but for myself personally, seeing posts like yours are more than enough. Knowing that in some small way I have indirectly made someone's life a little bit better with Rockbox is thanks enough.

Every time I see a post like yours I think to myself "I had a part in this, and others enjoy it", which is its own reward.

Rockbox always welcomes submissions of patches for ongoing bugs, correcting documentation errors, help with translation, maintaining the wiki, etc. I think this is the best way to give back to such a community, and there is always something to be done that accommodates all skill levels.

Failing that, there is a donate link to your immediate left - any amount helps.

...and failing that, I could *really* use a new car. :P

Using PMs to annoy devs about bugs/patches is not a good way to have the issue looked at.

I have some bad id3tags in some of my music that needs correcting but I don't think this is rockbox problem (by bad I meen incorrect or wrong encoding).
If I'm wrong tell me.

I will check out the open bugs and see if there is anything I can fix
