renamed folder with clip zip causes boot to freeze
« on: September 26, 2013, 10:57:52 AM »
Hello,

I recently decided to rename my music folder by placing a $ in front of it. I also put a few new songs into the folder at this time. My primary use of this player is while driving, so being able to use it without looking is important. Upon booting back up, all I get is "Boot 4.0" and then "Ver. 3.13" before it stops, displaying the version. I can turn it off by holding the power button for an extended time, but turning it back on yields the same results. I cannot communicate with it via USB in any way I know of.

Is putting a $ in front of the music folder so bad? I did not put a space inbetween. The battery is not dead. I recently updated to version 3.13 and put a different theme on, but these have been working ok. The theme is Enkara or something like that.

Thanks for any help!
James

My guess is that the file system is/was corrupt, and renaming the folder broke it even more.  Try checking the disk for errors in the sandisk firmware.  I bet that fixes it.

Thank you for making this suggestion. I cannot tell you what was wrong, but while I was trying to find out what you meant by "checking the disk for errors in the sandisk firmware" I found out about a method of reverting to sandisk OS, by pushing the on button and immediately pushing the left button. I had to reformat the system, but all is well for now.

Thanks again.
