My clip+ doesn't turn on anymore
« on: September 23, 2013, 12:38:19 PM »
Hi,

Sometimes my clip+ freeze on rockbox boot, and a reset by pressing the power button while 20 seconds always worked.

Today my clp+ doesn't want to power on, i have nothing, no display and no sound from the jack.
I tried several reset but it didn't helped me.

What can i do now, is my only way to unplugged the battery ?

If yes, did you have a disassembly procedure ?

Thanks

Your best bet at this stage is to put it up on a shelf and forget about it for ~48 hours or so.

This has exactly the same effect as physically removing the battery, without the added risk of messing something up and destroying the player for good. I do not advise disassembly of the device for cases like this, especially as the Clip+ doesn't have a removable battery, you would need to either snip or de-solder one of the battery wires.

So, let it sit somewhere for ~48 hours, then plug the device into your computer and see if it boots. If it does not, give it another 12~24 hours, then check to see if applying power will convince the device to boot and charge.

It crashed with the display off, so by leaving it the battery eventually ran down and it turned off.

Yes, it crashes in a manor that reset doesn't work, and nor does charging. Letting the battery run down (or disconnecting it) will effectively reset the player.
