iPod 4G Clickwheel Does Not Work Under RB (but does under iTunes)

OK. At the end of my rope here. Old clickwheel for my iPod 4G mono went. Fine. It felt just wrong when touching it. The select button did not work correctly, and neither did anything else. Went on ebay and got a new clickwheel. Installed.

Here's the thing. Clickwheel works perfectly under iTunes. However, under Rockbox the center select button does not work, and the only thing which works is when you move up and down.

Thought about it. Figured it could be a software error on RB. Ran a bunch of disk testing warez on the HD (Norton, etc). HD is perfect. Afterwards completely restored the unit using iTunes. The disk was blank. Empty. Restored, ground zero from scratch. Booted up. Again, under iTunes the clickwheel works perfectly. And Rockbox does load correctly. However, again, Rockbox the clickwheel does not work. And again, the select button does not work at all. Also the play does not work, and none of the menu functions work.

How is it possible that a clickwheel does work under iTunes but not work under RB?

Any theories?

Presumably the rockbox driver relies on some component that is broken in your player but unused by the Apple firmware.  I'd check that you installed it correctly.  Failing that you're probably going to have to stick with the apple firmware.

Yea, I don't understand it. Gave up, and installed the clickwheel on one of my color 4gs (I have about six of them lying around). It now works perfectly, and having color is a nice change.
