Can installing RB interfere with (SD external) playlists on original firmware?
« on: September 19, 2013, 01:17:03 AM »
Hey there,

I searched around the forums and didn't find a post that answered this question specifically, so I finally decided to ask. I have a Sansa Clip+, I organize my music with MediaMonkey, and all my playlists have been created via MM. I save all my music and playlists on the external SD memory. I know that Rockbox kind of has its own playlist system that functions from the device itself, but I worked (I think unnecessarily) hard on getting my playlists in place and functioning on the original firmware and I don't want to do that over again.

If I install Rockbox on my system, will it still read these previously created playlists? (They are m3u files.) Can I edit those playlists normally through MM once I Rockbox my Clip+? I believe I have read in other posts that Rockbox and MediaMonkey can be used together for playlist creation, but I want to make sure that it won't mess with the playlists I already have.

Thanks in advance!

Rockbox should read those playlists just fine, and it won't go about overwriting them without you explicitly telling it to.
