Return to Now Playing on Clip Zip

(1/1)

HoshinoPareedo:
I can't figure out how to do this. It was easy to do on the iPod but the play button acts as up on the Clip Zip.

Also, why do some of my album covers look faded on the screen? There's nothing  wrong with the files.

JunkMale:
The key(s) to get back to the "While Playing Screen" (WPS) depends on what screen you're on!

From the Main Menu it's just the HOME key.

From the Files Tree it's HOME+SELECT which is not very "one hand friendly" and, even with two hands, you have to be damn quick with the SELECT key because holding down the HOME key on its own for more than very short period takes you to the Quickscreen menu.

From most of the other screens, I don't think there's currently any defined way to get directly back to the WPS.

I've modified the key hierarchy to get around this and a couple of other issues I personally didn't like (e.g. accessing the Pitch Change screen by holding down the PLAY key), but I must admit I think the Clip could use a little bit of a rethink of it's standard keymap.

I can't help with the washed out album covers - it's not something I pay much attention to (the clip is usually in my pocket anyway.) Maybe it's a theme issue, in which case, selecting a different theme might help?

ZincAlloy:
The washed out album covers may be two issues at once: The screen needs calibration, as the difference between black and the darkest grey shades is greatly exaggerated. If the cover has any dark grey areas they will appear much too bright.
There also seems to be an issue with the jpg decoder: http://forums.rockbox.org/index.php/topic,43180.0.html

Salomanuel:
one press of the HOME key to get the main menus
another press to get the WPS

it's now the best straightforward way but it works, I can use without issues a clip+ with broken screen and just voice menus for blind users

BTW I had a ipod5.5g and I prefer by a long way the clip zip, it's faster on boot and in the database and it doesn't have than damn fancy wheel (with which it was IMPOSSIBLE to write (for ex. when searching a song))
