Fuze new power problem

<< < (2/4) > >>

over 48 hours and still not turning on. :-/  i think it's still "on" though. so hopefully when the battery drains i'll be ok.  i hear noises when i plug headphones in.  is there any way to drain it faster when it's frozen?  does leaving headphones connected somehow draw more power?  i'm guessing not unless it's playing, if even then...?

So, FIVE days until my battery finally died!  That was torture.  So if anyone can try to make the next release more stable that would be greatly appreciated. :-)  Otherwise, the lesson I've learned is to only work on themes when your battery is almost dead.  That way if it freezes hopefully it won't take as long to die so you can use the player again. :-P  And I'm not talking about writing a bad theme file or something.  There seems to be a lot of crashes (probably 95% of my crashes) simply switching between two good themes.  I always wait a few seconds to make sure everything is loaded, but I still have crashes.  :-/

What do you think the point of the project is? ;)

Annoying people with some unstable and crappy software of course!

The point of course is to improve the software and fix bugs as well.  :-P  This bug goes back a ways if you search google/rockbox.  So despite a few updates, "bricking" or "freezing" issues where you can't turn the player back on until the battery dies haven't been resolved.

I realize this can be difficult to troubleshoot.  I was just trying to say "hey, it still exists and is frustrating people" in hopes that perhaps it could be addressed in the next update or so.  I can cause the issue by doing a number of different things that aren't related, so it doesn't seem to isolated to one function such as "switching themes".  But rather, it appears that multiple things can cause a crash, but when it crashes there is some bug that causes it not to respond again.  If that bug could be squished I could care less about the crashing.  I don't experience crashing in "normal" playback usage, only with random function changes, such as changing themes, random usb disconnect issues, freezing while paused and on hold.  Things like that.

Rebooting now and then wouldn't be a problem, but losing the player for 3-5 days is very frustrating.  Especially if it was nothing you did.  So I would just hope the issue was one of a higher priority than say adding a new game or something.  I'm not saying that it isn't, but I'm just putting my experience out there in case it makes someone more aware of the issue. :)  There isn't much info that I can find about this being worked on.  I'm not sure if there is any bug tracker on this specific problem?
