iRiver with CF adapter - 64gb card
« on: August 13, 2013, 07:02:55 PM »
I put an SDXC card in my iriver.

It's got bootloader 7pre4 on it, and I have flashed the ROM and RAM.

It seemed to be working fine with a 2GB SD card in.

I got a 64GB micro SD card today, put it in the adapter that it came with to insert into the CF to SD slot, but whenever I boot it says "No partition found."

If I boot from ROM or RAM it says this. If I boot from disk, it first does not work, then when I press the reset button on my device, it boots up fine.
I have tried reflashing the ROM and RAM.

I formatted the card to FAT32 using my phone.

Why won't it boot properly?

Your phone's format utility is fine for writing a file system but not good to change the partition identifier, which is necessary if converting from your SDXC card's exFAT to FAT32.  If you instead use a dedicated partition tool you can change the partition ID and then create the FAT32 file system and it should work as expected.

In Linux you can do this with GParted or on the command line fdisk and mkfs.vfat.

In Windows you can use a gratis application like EASEUS Partition Manager or you could use a free bootable live CD like Parted Magic.

I have downloaded EASEUS.

I deleted the partition and formatted as FAT32.

The player still won't boot. :(

How do I set the partition identifier? Did I do it by formatting?

Some format tools set the partition type, some don't. An actual partitioning tool will do it for sure.

I used SwissKnife. It seems to have done the job.

Thank you.

Oh wait, no it hasn't.

I'm gonna need some more help please.

I've now used MiniTool to set the partition, it's definitely 0x0B, which is FAT32. Rockbox still says "No partition found."
