Accessing memory expansion on Clip+

(1/1)

OatsNraisin:
Hello,

I just got rockbox on my clip+.  I love it so far, but there's one big flaw for me, and that's accessing files on the memory expansion.  Most of my music is on the SD card, and it's a hassle to navigate all the folders.  Another thing is, you cannot just go to the memory card and shuffle all.

Is there any way to get rockbox to read both the memory expansion and the internal memory in the "database" directory?

Thanks.

saratoga:
The database actually does combine both the internal and external memory, so you could use that instead of the file browser.

Have you by any chance messed with the databases "directories to scan" setting?

Settings -> General Settings -> Database -> Select directories to scan

By default, the database should scan the entire visible filesystem (except for the .rockbox directory), which (as saratoga pointed out) should by default include the sdcard. If it doesn't, something is wrong, or you've accidentally messed around with the directories to scan, be it consciously or not.

I tried that, and I suppose it worked.  However, when I clicked "database" I received a message saying "building database... 18 found (OFF to return)".  That was two hours ago, and the message is still the same.  Is this supposed to happen?

Also, will I have to scan directories every time I add new music to my player?

saratoga:
You don't ever have to select the directories to scan.  Default is everything.

If the database crashes its often a corrupt file system or something similar.
