Easier EQ browser access from WPS
(1/1)
JunkMale:
I'd find it useful to be able to change Equaliser Preset settings between using my Sansa Clip Zip for music and for speech/language lessons. As a result, I'd like to change one of the WPS key mappings to directly select the Settings>Sound Settings>Equalizer>Browse EQ Presets submenu.
I've already set up a dev environment and have successfully ( yeah I know it was trivial :) disabled the Pitch Screen from the Play/Pause button (a PIA when you're pausing/playing language lessons and accidentally hold it down for a few milliseconds too long)
However, I can't see any simple way to get directly to the settings submenus. Is there any overview documentation on how the menu scheme works or can someone provide a few lines of guidance?
I'm happy to get down and dirty with the code, but it's a bit daunting trying to get the big picture from all those call backs and macros!

By my understanding you could achieve this without having to modify any of the code or compile your own build.
You could use the option to swap out the Quickmenu with the Shortcuts menu, and assign a shortcut to each EQ preset and switch on-the-fly from any screen, not just the WPS.

Thanks for the reply Saint, and yes, that's exactly what I've done ;D
I found the instructions on setting the shortcuts a bit confusing until I realised that I had to swap out the QuickScreen via the Settings menu.
I still think it would be useful if someone could produce an overview of how the menu code is structured. I've seen several requests on the forum for quite reasonable changes that people might do themselves if they could fathom the menu system.
I'm not trying to be critical here. I think Rockbox is an excellent project. I just think people like things their own way and it would be great if they could do that without annoying the developers!
Thanks again.
