Is there a way to disable certain buttons when on the now playing screen?

Hi, I have a sandisk fuze V2, running the latest version of rockbox. while all of the features I like work well (voice recording and other recording does not really work but I do not expect to want to use them).

anyway, I like using the fuze because it can be controlled without having to take it out of my pocket and without me having to reach into the pocket.

the problem is once in a while I will be unfortunate enough to have a screen like this pop up, which I will notice from not being able to skip any songs or perform other functions.



What I want to do is somehow disable the menu button, or disable that specific menu when playing music

ideally I would like it where when I am on the now playing page I would like for the navigation wheel to only control the playback (play, pause, skip, rewind, and fast forward), and not leave the page. then to leave the window, pressing the home button which is harder to press and  in my experience, never a mistaken press.
while that is more of an ideal for pocket operation, I would be happy to just disable the menu button or that specific menu.

I don't think you'll find a way to disable a button without setting up a development environment and rebuilding RockBox (it might sound daunting but it's actual quite straightforward and there's very good documentation on how to do it.)

I had a similar problem with the Pitch Screen coming up on my Clip Zip when I was using it for pausing/restarting language lessons. It would come up when I pressed the play/pause button just a little bit too long and was a PITA when I used it, like you, with the device in my pocket. It only required commenting out a line in one of the source files (the keymap file) then rebuilding. It took a bit of time to set up the build environment, but the rebuilding was very easy. The developers have done a great job of streamlining the process.

I've had a quick look at the Fuze keymap and it looks like the screen you want to disable (the QuickScreen) is triggered by a long hold of the "down" key. Does that seem right? There's also a Pitch Change screen tiggered by a long hold of the "up" key that you'd probably want removed. Beyond that there's a few others that you could remove but might take away functions you'd use, e.g. the WPS Context Menu (long hold "select").
