Rockbox'd Clip Zip malfunctioning...
« on: July 24, 2013, 11:23:41 PM »
My rockbox'd sansa clip zip has begun severely malfunctioning. It's about 1 year old, rockbox'd the whole time. I'm running rockbox version 6803d7b-121229. Hoping someone might be able to help. Here's a list of the numerous malfunctions that have suddenly cropped up:

1. When I boot into rockbox, it doesn't bring up the background image. It shows menu text on black background. Restoring default settings didn't change this. When I try to boot to original firmware -- hold left button and press power -- I see the little sansa zip animation, but it then hangs and never loads.

2. When I attempt to play a file, either from the internal memory, or from the microsd card, I get this error:

"Error accessing playlist control file (-4)"

Usually it hangs up when I do this.

3. Can't record, says: "The disk is full. Press OFF to continue." Once it gave an error message I couldn't catch and shut down instead. Under rockbox info, it says I have 101mb free on the internal drive.

4. When I connect the player to my computer -- asus eee, xp, sp3 -- I can access the microsd card, but not the internal memory. It brings up a placeholder for the internal drive, but when I click on it it says 'please insert a drive into etc...'. However, I can browse the full contents of my internal drive under rockbox itself.

5. No plugin's will work: all say 'cannot load etc.'

Etc:

F.M. Radio works fine.

It's been slightly over a year since I got the player...don't suppose there is any hope on the warranty end is there?

Any help appreciated.

Cheers,
Tim
