Sansa Clip Zip freezes after playing some files

<< < (2/2)

Ascariblade:
So I scanned my memory card for the errors and removed them. I don't think that my Zip has a bad slot as on OF the files still come up. The only reason why I decided to use Rockbox rather than OF is that the OF has a file read limit and my music is well ordered in folders so it well exceeds the file limit. I tried to database again and now what happens is that the amount of files is read almost instantaneosly then it stops. So far nothing has happened after that and it hasn't frozen so I will leave it over some time later and post the results. Right now I'm testing whether the freezing (my main issue) is still happening after updating and scanning for errors. I am goint to test it by listening to an album from the Zip and another from the memory card. Plus, could I get a step by step process for renaming the directory and copying just to make sure i have copied the right things over into the right place.

Nephiel:
Renaming and copying the rockbox directory is like a clean install, but you still keep a copy of the old directory in case you want to recover something later (installed themes, custom settings, radio presets...)

If you want to do that, plug the player into the computer and rename the .rockbox directory to something like .rockbox-old. Then download the release you want from the Rockbox site, it should come as a zip file. Open the zip file and drag and drop the .rockbox directory inside to your player. Unplug the player safely and reboot it.
