run a FM Without Battery ??

(1/1)

elmanu:
Hi folks,

I think my FM battery is dead : strange noises when I plug the charger, the battery looks slightly "fat", and it's impossible to start my JukeBox.

As I use it ALWAYS plugged, at home, I have this question : does anybody made work an Archos without battery ?? I mean directly plugged wih the transformer.
I want to test to make it work with 5 volts, but if some body have any experience...

Thanks !!

Me again ;-)

I checked the voltage on my batteries : 2,8 v each
I would like to know if it's my ARCHOS that didn't charge any more, or if it's my batteries.

Anybody experienced a dead charging circuit in ARCHOS ?

thanks in advance

Manuel

elmanu:
nobody ??

Today, I plugged the archos on with the USB, but without the batteries : very strange noise, no screen, no leds.
Is it normal ?

Thanks for your feedback

If the FM is anything like the JBRv1, it always runs off the batteries (the AC is just for charging the cells), and won't run without them.

I will answer to myself, just for the community ;-)

As I use my archos ALWAYS at home, I removed the dead batteries and did the following :
-removed the DC plug and modified it : cut the 3rd pin that tells the system if you have a plug inside or not, bend the + pin to connect it to a wire that is directly connected to one of the 2 + connector of the battery reciever, and let the ground connected as is.
-then, you can use your archos with the power supply, without battery.
-as my power supply died, I use now an old PC powersupply, that have a powerfull 5 volts output.

My Archos works fine with that, but now I need a truck to move it ;-)
(bloody big power supply)
