Gigabeat Battery upgrade recharging and stuff
« on: July 04, 2013, 07:54:19 AM »
Hi ..

I recently upgraded my gigabeat battery to a ipod4 1400mAh battery.   I'm pretty happy with the amount of play time I get.  I'm also running the CF card mod ... so everything is nice and smooth.

my problem is this ...... I have a custom compiled version of rockbox running so I can put 1400mAh into the battery settings.  The battery gauge and the battery info percentage NEVER change.

yesterday after using it for over a week it finaly ran out of power. But it totally DIED ... it didn't even say "Low Power -Rockbox Shutting down"

now I recharged it all night .... and the "power-off" red recharge logo .... is still red ......  when I power it up it says I'm at 100%

Is this something I just have to live with? that the gigabeat hardware is juts confused?  or is this connected to me setting the battery settings to 1400mAh?

Do I need to compile something else into the patch?

What experience does everyone else have with the battery upgrade?

Sounds like the Gigabeat isn't getting any information from the iPod battery.  Maybe they're wired differently?

The third wire is for thermistor, not critical. How did you modify rockbox exactly?

I changed the power settings in the setup file .... so that I can choose the mAh settings I want.

In any event ... I switched back to the stock battery and those settings don't work ... I had to install rockbox from the installer ... now I can see the battery level with the stock battery.

any thoughts on the upgrade?
