Rockbox and Audible?
«

Hi,
I am new to Rockbox and would like to know if it can play audible files (aax.) if the player (for example a sandisk clip zip) supports audible?
Thank you!

No, unfortunately the audible format is encrypted, so will never be supported.
See DRM;

It's such a shame, I'd be a massive customer of Audible if they used an open format.

Thanks, thats really a shame! I am a customer of Audible and Rockbox seems to be the ideal software for my mp3-player.
So the only option is to convert my audible audiobooks to mp3? I paid a lot of money for them...

Yes, but the problem is that there is no alternative source for german audiobooks (I am from Austria), only Audible.

Similar subject was being discussed at yahoo answers last week. I can post the link if needed.

I think you can set audible software to download as mp3. Then boot into players software to download it onto player. Then disconnect, boot rockbox and drag audible mp3 into podcasts. It will now play in rockbox. I do this with audiobooks I download from my library. You may be able to transfer content without booting into original firmware, as long as your computer recognises the player it should work.

Please mrfritzle, can you tell me how to fill the Player with audible-files.
The audible-manager only shows me the rockbox-using but not the part of the original firmware.
Very helpful would be writing in german, because I'm german too.

Reboot into the original firmware, and then add the files there.
