Rockbox Ports are now being developed for various digital audio players!
I can also browse with the original firmware, the problem is the way it records the files I load in, it doesn't respect the files names and sometimes split them.

Whereas the Database will display the metadata of the files it finds, so if the tags are incorrect, or missing, you will get odd results.[Saint]
You must get into the properties of each file (right clic on the file > properties > details tab and fill up correctly all the lines artist name, artist album etc...
I am sorry, I misread your post...I assumed that you already had Rockbox installed. My mistake.I cannot tell you at all how the original firmware is supposed to act. I have no idea, although I have this device I have never used it, nor laid eyes on the original firmware. The answer I gave previously is how Rockbox will behave, but the same is almost certainly true for any firmware the displays the metadata of the files instead of the filenames and directory structure. Rockbox just happens to do both.A little side note regarding:Quote from: tooppy on June 30, 2013, 05:11:22 AMYou must get into the properties of each file (right clic on the file > properties > details tab and fill up correctly all the lines artist name, artist album etc...There are applications that exist that can automate this process for you. If you have been tagging by hand, I feel for you. Checking out the above link might make you feel a lot better about this process.[Saint]
Back to my question, do I need to format before installing Rockbox ?
