Completely bricked/frozen clip+ any drastic solutions?

(1/1)

happysnail:
My Clip+ freezes on the Rockbox logo and on the Sansa flower if I try to boot into the ofw. I've tried the reseting by holding down the power button and i've let the battery run down twice but to no avail.
If I plug it in on windows while it's at the Rockbox screen I can see an external drive, but it's empty and has 0 bytes of space on.
Is there a backup restore method? or a way to get the computer to recognise the player? At the moment the player is useless, so I'm willing to try anything with it really?
Thanks

What build are you running?

Does Rockbox actually work and play music?

happysnail:
I installed it on June 3rd, so whatever the latest build was then, It no longer says the build - just says "Boot 4.0" above the Rockbox logo and freezes.
Rockbox doesn't work, can't get past the startup screen - it just crashes; same for the original firmware, stuck on the flower logo. It was all fine till it froze when I was listening to a track and I restarted it by holding the power, since then it's completely stuck.
Just wondering if there's a safe mode or a way to get a computer to recognise it as a memory stick or something so I can try stuff with it (even a physical modification), at the moment it's completely bricked and is only good for showing logos - the fact windows half recognised it gave me a little hope (OSX can't see anything) but I got nowhere with it.

saratoga:
On IRC funman suggested holding down the center button with USB inserted while booting to get into the rockbox bootloader USB mode.  Perhaps from there you can recover your file system.
