Super-large theme for the very near-sighted?

(1/1)

comporanger:
I'm setting up a Sansa Zip Clip for a visually impaired person. Although file navigation will be done partly by sound ( I'm setting it to speak the menus plus the file and folder names). I can't think of a good way for them to keep up with the time elapsed\total time. I can't seem to find a theme where the time counter is large enough for them to easily see. If I could have only one piece of info displaying on the WPS, in a really big font, that would be it. Anyone have any ideas?

If all you want is something like that, you might be surprised at how easy it is to create a theme yourself using the rather extensive in-core skin engine, the syntax of which is described in the manual for the device.

Since you only want a very minimal display and you're setting this up for someone else, I could whip something up for you with relative ease if you describe to me the requirements for each screen (FM Screen, While Playing Screen, (Base SKin) Lists). However, you might be surprised at how easy, and fun, it can be to do this yourself.

Be sure to speak up if you need any further help.

Thanks for your very kind offer- I appreciate it.

I've looked a little bit into theme customization, and it may seem easy to some but it's rather beyond my depth. :P If you (Saint) or anyone else would be interested in creating\customizing a theme for the use of my visually impaired friend, it would be greatly appreciated. I wonder if such a theme might be of interest to others as well. For instance, I think for the near sighted it would be nice if there was an option to replace the title\album\artist info, (which is really not needed, IMHO, while playing something like an audiobook), with a super large time counter display. Taking the concept further, perhaps the display could be enabled to toggle through various screens at a button press, showing battery life, etc. with extra large icons and fonts. If anyone is interested I could provide testing\feedback\ suggestions. :)
