Sansa Clip+ Database building...forever?

(1/2) > >>

Hi all,

I'm running Rockbox on my Sansa Clip+, and after I inserted my external SD card I re-initialized the database but it just keeps on building. It has been saying "building database... 1572 found (OFF to return)" for hours now. I made windows scan the disk for errors but none were found (on both the microSD and the internal storage). What can I do to fix this? I would like to use the database.

I'm running the latest Daily Build, but i have tried it with older builds as well...

Under the debug menu you can enable logging the database to disk. Probably the last file on that list crashed the system. If you find such a file please post a link to it so that we can look into it.

I have deleted ALL music from my Sansa Clip+, but the database refreshing still crashed (and found 312 files?!). I even tried to format using the official firmware and then putting rockbox back using the rockbox USB bootloader mode. But even then refreshing seems to go into an infinite loop or something after finding 312 files (but I deleted all files so this is pretty strange!). I did enable metadata logging but I can't seem to find the log anywhere? Where is it saved?

There are around 300 files in .rockbox/ (not audio files of course), so those are the ones it counts.

There's an old bug that makes building the database do this when *no* audio files are found.

I *believe* the metadata log is saved in .rockbox/

I found that if I added some media files to my external SD card it works. So i'm periodically adding all media files back and updating the database (every 4 albums or so). So far everything is fine. I hope to find out what file was killing it. Or maybe it just works now because of the database initialization with just a few files (updates are probably different right?)
