Ipod Classic 7th Gen

I hope I'm posting this in the right forum.  I've got a 120 GB 7th Gen ipod classic.  When compared to my Iphone 5S the sound quality is poor.  I was hoping to put rockbox on my ipod and have a few questions.  First, will it improve sound quality?  Second, I use the usb out to my car stereo to view and search the songs that are displayed on the screen.  Will I still be able to do that?  The ipod obviously doesn't use my data allowance so I'd prefer to do us eit.  However, the 5 sounds so much better through usb.  Thanks in advance for the responses.

Sounds like its broken, take it back and get a replacement.

No.

No.
