problem with iPod 5.5

Hey guys, I've been having some issues with my iPod lately. Whenever i try to copy files to the iPod, the transfer stops at random point the iPod freezes. I have to wait for the battery to drain and recharge it to continue transfers. Any ideas what the problem might be?
