Sansa zip: How can I move to parent directories while playing?

I am stumped over this seemingly very simple task; and I couldn't find anything in the manual. I have a sansa zip and use the back button to move to the parent directory in browsing mode. In playing mode I use long-menu button to move to browsing mode. From there I can't find any way to move directly to the parent directory. The back button brings me back to the now-playing screen. Is there no way to move back up the directory structure while playing without having to move back to the main menu and down again from the root in the files menu?

I believe you want Follow Playlist:

Follow Playlist.
This option determines what directory the File Browser displays first. If Follow Playlist is set to Yes, when you enter the File Browser from the WPS, you will find yourself in the same directory as the currently playing file. If Follow Playlist is set to No, when you enter the File Browser from the WPS, you will find yourself in the directory you were in when you last left the File Browser.
