Problem with copying files to the Sansa Fuze (Shutes down...)

(1/1)

Lukanus:
Hello,
I installed Rockbox to my Sansa Fuze and it seems to work.

But when I try to copy files (complete folder with 200 files) via drag & drop to it,
it stops after 10 or 15 files cause windows doesn't find the Fuze any more.
(Talking about 1 minute of connection - seems as if the connection is lost)

When I touch the Fuze and turn the wheel,
windows finds it again for the next 10-15 files...

Maybe a wrong setting in rockbox???
Seems as if rockbox cutes the connection...

saratoga:
You need to use the sandisk firmware for transfers if USB doesn't work well with your computer.

Also, its a good idea to mention which Fuze you have when asking for help.

Lukanus:
I used my Fuze for roundabout 5 year with the original firmware
and it never has been a problem with USB or copying files to it with this PC.
Done it hundred of times.

Then yesterday I installed rockbox with fuze 01.02.31 Firmware and since then I have this issue...  :-[

Doesn't rockbox has a possibility to switch to different USB modes (MSC etc...) ?

AlexP:
Rockbox is a complete firmware replacememnt, including our own USB drivers which for some targets are buggy.

Rockbox has only drivers for MSC (and HID).

Serenity:
USB on the Sansa Fuze is buggy under Rockbox. This is a known issue (I use a Fuze daily, and have this issue myself) and they are working on it.  Saratoga has the best advice: Boot into the original Sansa firmware to transfer to the player's internal memory.

I use a 64GB micro SD card for external storage, and the original Sansa firmware will not recognise it (I believe it has issues with cards over 8GB).  To transfer music to the SD card I pop it out and use a card reader.

These are very minor workarounds, and I feel are worth doing for the advantages Rockbox gives you on this player.  If you don't want to use the original firmware or a card reader to transfer files, I think Rockbox version 3.9 worked--but I could be wrong.
