Sansa Clip-zip bugs (or is it me?)
« on: June 10, 2013, 05:58:55 PM »
1) As other have noted, if I connect to USB using any non-standard (i.e. not the 3 it shipped with) themes I get an error, &/or an illegal instruction, and the player locks up. I assume there is no point me doing any debugging, since the problem seems eminently reproducible.

2) I have a WEIRD problem with one .ogg file on a playlist. The file is on the player - if I play it from 'files' menu it play fine. If I play the playlist from external source (e.g. mediamonkey) when the player is connected to the PC, then it play fine. If I play the playlist using RB, on the player, I get an 'ERR' and the track won't play (skips to track 2). If I change the file/folder name (for a copy of the original file) if plays OK. Haven't tried yet to see if it is just a 'file #1 on the playlist' problem, which I suppose is possible. Did it with the previous (beta) version of RB too, which is why I just upgraded to 3.13 .. to no avail (and I got the USB bug as a bonus).

The playlist looks like:
#EXTM3U
..\Music\Noel Coward - Noel Coward - A Talent to Amuse Original Recordings 1931 – 1955\009 - Could You Please Oblige Us with a Bren Gun.ogg
..\Music\Asia - Anthologia\008 - Cutting It Fine.ogg
<etc>

or ..
#EXTM3U
..\Music\Noel Coward - Noel Coward - A Talent to Amuse Original Recordings 1931 – 1955\009 - Could You Please Oblige Us with a Bren Gun.ogg
..\Music\Noel Coward - X\009 - Could You album X.ogg

In both cases item#1 won't play (I have already stripped off the '?' at the end of the track name, and the unlauts from the e of Noel, to no avail). As I said, the file itself plays fine, and the playlist LOOKS like it should work (and works if played from elsewhere) so WTF can be going wrong? No album art, nothing obviously flakey with the file (plays fine). Stumped I am ..

Cheers
D.

#1 is with your player. Mine works fine using several cables including a light-up one from dealextreme.

#2 Noel Coward?

it is possible that you have themes that carried through several updates, but I rather suspect you may be talking about cabbiev2, rockbox_default_icons, and rockbox_failsafe . Is this correct?

If you are using themes from the theme site, and can reproduce this consistently, it would be very helpful to tell us which themes specifically, and the revision number of the Rockbox version on the device.

...did you parse this incorrectly? Are you saying that it works for you with any theme, or any cable (which unless I'm mistaken wasn't in dispute)?

If you do *not* get the above behaviour, with one of the themes that OP will hopefully mention, it might be helpful to know which revision of Rockbox is on your device.

Using PMs to annoy devs about bugs/patches is not a good way to have the issue looked at.
