Viewing Lyrics in Rockbox

Hi, I'm having trouble getting lrcplayer to work. I wrote out the lyrics for a couple of songs and saved them as .lrc, and then put them on my ipod in the same folder as the music file, disconnected my ipod, and selected the song and then went to lrcplayer but it said no lyrics were available. I have an apple iPod classic 6th Generation 160gb with emcore and rockbox 3.1 I believe? What can I do to view lyrics while listening to my music? I'm kind of a lyrics buff lol.
