iriver H10 6GB does not connect properly

(1/1)

tsetsefliege:
hi folks,

I own an iriver H10 6GB with rockbox running. Worked like a charm for a long time but when I try to connect the player to my PC now (normal and emergency connect) I can't access it.
The player shows up as mass storage device but when I try to access it, it won't show anything (keeps loading).

Windows event log shows:

- The IO operation at logical block address "7ff" for Disk "4" was retried (Event 153)

- The device H:\ is offline due to a user-mode driver crash. Windows will attempt to restart the device 5 more times. Please contact the device manufacturer for more information about this problem. (Event 10111)

I deinstalled the device and tried different usb ports but it seems like the problem is with the hdd itself!?

chkdsk does not work as it's not connected properly and I'm out of ideas (except changing the hdd but that sucks with the 6GB version).

thanks for the help

specs: win8 64bit
iriver H10 6GB MTP -> rockbox (running and still working)

Try a different PC to be sure.

oh god, now I feel really stupid. I tried different USB ports but always with the same results but didn't think of using a different PC
just tried it with a win7 machine and it took ages to load and install but I could run chkdsk and it repaired several broken sectors. Now it also works on my main machine.

Thanks very much for the help :)
