Problem With Rockbox - Switches back to iPod firmware by itself
« on: June 04, 2013, 06:35:19 AM »
I have installed Rockboc onto my iPod Video, and it works great. That is, until after a while, where it goes to sleep (power saving mode) when it is idle and then when I turn it on again it is back running the iPod firmware. I have tried re-installing Rockbox, and that just yielded the same results - works fine for a while, and then reverts after a day or so.

Sorry if this topic has been posted before, any help would be appreciated.

Dilo not enable Hold immediately after powering up the Ipod.

Sorry I am not too sure what this means. What is "Dilo" and is "Hold" referring to the lock on the iPod?

Thats probably a typo for "Do", and yes the hold switch is what he is referring to.

FWIW, if you want to know about dual booting on the older iPods, you can read about it in the manual.

Yes well the thing is I do not think I am enabling the "Hold" switch when I turn it on.

It is. These virtual keyboards can give weird results ...

How exactly are you turning on the Ipod?

Well when I leave it alone for about a day or so, the screen is black. So I simply push any of the buttons and then it turns on, but loads up the apple software.

If you press and hold the menu button to turn it on it will boot the Apple firmware. You either need to let go of the button sooner (just press it, don't wait for the screen to come on) or use the select button instead.
