Issue initializing/updating database on Clip+ with 16gb microSD

(1/1)

array01:
For some time I've been using a 4gb clip+ with a 16gb samsung class 2 micro SDHC card as my media player. Recently the 4gb Clip+ broke so I upgraded to an 8gb clip+.
I immediately installed rockbox (3.13) on it and put my old 16gb card in, only to find out it doesn't work. Whenever I try to initialize/update the database it hangs, and I have to force the power off by holding the power button for ~30 seconds.
I performed some control tests to see where the issue is.
Official firmware sees the card and updates the library just fine. All my music works without issue.
Rockbox recognizes and initializes my 2gb kingston micro sd card with no issue, music from that plays fine.
No matter how full my 16gb card is (1 artists or 100 artists), it fails to initialize. I tried multiple times with multiple artists, all of them hung, so it's not a specific song causing issue here.
Worst case scenario I guess I can use OFW, but I'm a huge fan of rockbox and official is a million steps backwards.
Does anyone have any idea how I can fix this?

Edit: It looks like I can access the music via the "file" menu but database is still broken. I guess this works as a temporary fix but I would really like to have the database working. It's a pain to have to switch between looking at the microsd and the onboard storage.
