I vaguely recall seeing a request similar to this before, but I didn't see it resolved.
My "mental" sort order for albums by an artist is actually chronological. So, for example, if I'm using the Database functionality, and I browse to the artist U2, I want to see the next page, the albums, sorted in release date order, not alphabetically.
I don't really need a "release date" sub page...I still want to go from Artist to Album, I just want to change the sort order of the Album page.
This may not be do-able, because I understand that the year and the album name are two separate fields in the track, so this could be tricky. Is there any way for the database to be able to sort based on a field that isn't actually being displayed?
Does this request make sense?
One thing I could do is retag all of my files to have the year in the album name, so it would say "1980 - Boy" instead of "Boy" for the album name. I'd rather not do that, but a sort order as if the albums were titled like that is what I'm looking for.
Is this possible?
Thanks,
Kevin
