64 GB SDXC card recognized by original SanDisk firmware, but not Rockbox
(1/1)
grisha100:
I just got my new Sansa Clip Zip today and installed Rockbox on it.
Sadly enough I can't get it to read my 64GB SDXC card. The card is FAT32-formatted and is detected by the original firmaware, but not Rockbox. I tried to insert a 32 GB card and had no problems with that.
I have > 10000 files on the card if that affects anything....
Thanks.

When you formatted it, did you also change the partition type in the partition table to be FAT32? The original firmware (and Windows) both ignore the actual partition type and just detect the filesystem by looking at it, but Rockbox expects the type to be correct.

Actually I had an NTFS partition and just reformatted it as FAT32, so that just might be where I messed up. Thanks! I'll fix that and check if it works.

Changed the type to 0x0B and it worked! Thank you so much! :D

Hi, I think i got the same issue:
My micro SDXC 64GB card (recently buy) seem to work fine on my PC after I formted it in Fat32 (type: 0b (hex) and LOGICAL) with EaseUS partition manager, but the card are not detected by rockbox and with the OF no music are detected (files empty)
My repertory are like that:
--- Quote ---Music (in root, i got no other one)
- artist 1
- artist2
-...
--- End quote ---
EDIT: with a 16gb SDHX card, this work.
I don't know what to do.
EDIT 2: FORGIVE ME deer rockbox lord ! It was just because the partition was LOGICAL. In PRIMARY = WORK FINE (detected by rockbox) - Problem solved
