Clip Zip - 3.13 OPUS navigation issue
« on: May 20, 2013, 03:51:47 PM »
Hello, subforum. I'm very sure I'm in the right subforum...

I typically assemble a shuffled playlist and go out on an adventure with my Sansa Clip Zip (best $37 ever spent, esp. w/ Rockbox).

Consequently I'm not looking at the interface too much, but I soon realized "back-skipping" or rewinding--whatever the navigation for clicking the Left button once while playing a track is called--is actually sending the player forward one track on the list. Essentially I have two forward skip buttons when listening to an OPUS track (I immediately verified this to be the case by playing with some .oggs and .wavs and finding no silliness there).

  • Pausing a track, then back-skipping/rewinding, appears to work since the current track goes to 00:00, but upon pressing play again, the next track starts instead.
  • Forward and backward seeking, however, is fine.
  • Also, if back-skipping before the little 3-second back-skip window (or so) at the beginning of a track is up, it correctly back-skips to the previous track instead of to 00:00 (as it should to facilitate quick reverse movement through a playlist).

If relevant, I am using a Black 4GB model. I'm wondering if I encoded my OPUS files... wrongly, but they play/tag/work in other contexts and software. Any confirmation of this back-skip behavior would be great, I'm sure, for anticipation of our OPUS overlords :3

A few opus related fixes where commited recently. You may try bleeding edge build and see if the problems go away.

Good call, wodz!

Trying out a dev build and it seems like they got it. Glad the problem is (hopefully) old news to them.
